The Debating Group discusses the contentious political issues which surround marketing.

The Debating Group was founded in 1974 by the Publicity Club of London, the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and the Communication Advertising & Marketing Education Foundation, with Tim Rathbone MP – the then Chair of the Advertising Association’s Public Action Group – its first President. The inaugural debate took place the following year – on 16th June 1975.

We hold around six debates a year, usually in Committee Room 10 of the House of Commons.
